I suspect that it is not a great eating pumpkin, but bonus points for figuring out approximately how many pumpkin pies this behemoth would make.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow, that IS a massive pumpkin. My guess > 246.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing 325 lbs. I also listed my post on Thanksgiving and I have a link to a Sweet Potato Pie recipe.

Hmm, looks heavier to me. I guess 500 pounds, 700 pies. My Pumpkin Challah recipe, and pix of a Jarrahdale pumpkin (the Lillian Gish of Pumkins) is at:

I guess this is the Mae West of Pumpkins.
Keep guessing folks.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try the sweet potato pie recipe (one of my husband's favorite) and I've already begun salivating over the thought of pumpkin challah.
Thanks for playing Guess My Weight
Hmm..I guess 700 lbs :)
ReplyDeleteI am guessing 390 lbs
ReplyDeleteHope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThis pumpkin, spotted at California's Berkeley Bowl Marketplace, weighed in at 444 pounds.
I estimate it would make something like 300 pies, figuring about a third of its weight might be waste and figuring each pound of pumpkin "meat" would yield 2 cups of puree, assuming a recipe used 2 cups of puree per pie.
